Traffic is the life blood necessary for the success of profiting from your website. When I first got interested in starting a business I knew nothing about traffic. All I had heard about were websites and product. I had the same opinion as others, build a nice website. find a good product and voila, instant riches.

Once I got into the serious end of internet marketing, I learned differently. The more I read about online businesses, the more I read about the importance of traffic. Often the inferred comparison would be, if you have an offline store, you’re visible to passing human throngs. There are no little humans inside your computer, looking for your website.

So what do you do? Elementary! You have to go out and lure them in. How do you catch fish? You find a lure you think will attract them to your hook, and reel them in. Same with bringing traffic to your site. You examine all the tools for creating traffic and pick the one(s) that suit you best.

What are some of these tools? I thought you’d never ask. Take a look and examine some of these.

    • Referred traffic: Traffic referred by other sites, by an email list or by articles you may have written that appealed to them. (More on article traffic below)

    • Search Engine Ranking: Writing good content and submitting good keywords to the search engines can get you into a top 10 or 20 ranking. This would be highly desirable for bringing traffic.

    • Pay Per Click, PPC These are keywords you bid on to place a small advertisement in the search engines. They are the little blue ads you see to the right when you click on the search engines. This can be a very effective way to draw traffic. Be careful, if you don’t know what you’re doing, you stand to lose some bucks.

    • Ezines Ezines are online newsletters or magazine equivalents you pay to advertise in. They are mailed out regularly to their subscribers. If you use this form of traffic building, make sure the content they offer relates in some way to your product.
