Don't Be Fooled: Marketing Is Not About Meeting Customer Needs
When I was being trained in marketing (more years ago than I care to recount), marketing was defined as anticipating and meeting customer needs. Today this definition of marketing is redundant and if you follow it, there is every chance you will fail. The average consumer today has all his or her basic needs already met. In fact, they are totally overwhelmed by the vast array of product choices. To illustrate this, take a stroll down any supermarket aisle and count the number of brands and/or product variations in any given product category.Common sense tells us that consumers really don't need in excess of 30 different brands and/or product va

Online Affiliate Program Success Without A Web Site
Is it really possible to achieve online affiliate program success without owning a web site?Actually it is being done already even as you read this. The key rule for success in any online affiliate program is that one must be able to refer enough traffic on a regular basis to their affiliate program site. It is that simple. So if one were to find another way of referring traffic to their affiliate site without using their affiliate links on their own web site or blog site, it would work perfectly well.Actually one of the popular marketing tools used to refer massive targeted traffic to an online affiliate program is the Google adwords program. Howev
So here's the "million dollar question": Which is better, Yahoo Publisher Network or Google AdSense?

Let me make this short and sweet .. YPN is better for well-established websites with US-based visitors, and AdSense is better for un-established - or under-established - websites with a majority of visitors from outside of the US.

Allow me to explain why in more detail.

The number one reason Google's AdSense program has far outweighed Yahoo's Publisher Network is because they've been able to spread out as far and wide as possible in as little time as possible. Some may argue that this has caused Google to stretch their selves far too thin and possibly cause instability in the contextual advertising industry, but that remains to be seen. At this point it is only speculation whether or not either program has become ineffective or unprofitable to advertisers or publishers respectively.

Google has been able to cater to a diverse audience of independent or direct marketers with its AdWords program over the years and they have managed to more than quadruple their shares doing so. This brings us to Yahoo, which has still proven itself in the market second to Google, in contextual advertising, but remains advantageous in respects to displayed and branded advertising from larger firms.

A Lunchtime Lesson on Print Advertising
I promise you’ll be able to finish this article before you finish the first half of your PBJ. Are you sitting down? Good. Because I have some startling news for you.Print ads are here to stay. That’s right. Those dusty, musty, fusty old relics of the century past are still with us. And despite the ubiquity of commercials on radio and TV; despite the onslaught of banners, pop-ups and all manner of intrusive online ads; newspapers and magazines are, and always will be, a mainstay forum for mainstream advertising. There’s something about the readiness, the handiness, the heft and feel of a magazine or a newspaper that appeals to the

Marketing Tips 101 - Where Can I Get Clients From?
The following tips have come from a wide variety of sources; some from other successful businesses we know, some from our Home-Based and Small Business Support Group meetings and some we've developed by trial and error. Some of the ways to get clients are: contact previous employers; mailing lists; cold call your target market; attend group meetings and seminars for your target market (conventions for doctors, lawyers; computer seminars); attend local Chamber of Commerce meetings; join groups related to your target market; if your target market uses a specific system, for example accountants use the SafeGuard system, contact them and tell them that you ar

Successful Telecommuting Mom Story Number 1
Do you ever wonder if there are people out there that actually make it in the telecommuting industry? When getting started in this industry it is easy to get frustrated when you are waiting to get your first job. Let’s take a look at the work life of one telecommuter who as made it – Paula Williams.Paula decided to give telecommuting a try back in March of 2005 because she wanted the flexibility to care for her aging parents and to be able to travel at a moments notice. Both of these are important aspects of her every day life and make working in the regular 9-5-office environment impossible. Telecommuting was the perfect solution for her. She is able to w

    The Truth About Free Information
Research tells us that the primary reason people come onto the Internet is to get information. And if you ask them, everyone will say "sure - I want it to be free information."But let's think this through. From the early days of the World Wide Web information on the Internet was free. You could find millions of articles, free reports, etc. There were two reasons for all of these resources being free:1. Early pioneers online could not figure out a viable way to charge for it. 2. At the end of every free article or woven into a free ebook there were "offers" for a paid product or service. As technology has advanced we've seen a growing num

In regards to payout YPN retains generally higher CPC (Cost Per Click) than Google and thus appears more profitable to publishers. YPN also sets a minimum monthly budget for its advertises in order to create advertiser integrity and increase revenues, whereas Google has no minimum spending budget and imposes less stringent screening of their ads.

The only real noticeable difference is that AdSense seems to make a lot more sense. What I mean is AdSense will display far more relevant ads in regard to the content of its pages than YPN. For a website publisher this means that the chances of a visitor clicking on an ad - and thus generating commission for the publisher - are a lot higher with AdSense.

This is what we refer to as a conversion rate; the number of ad impressions made versus the number of times ads have been clicked on. The higher the conversion rate the more money you make as a publisher. So in a sense Google AdSense can more than make up for what it lacks in CPC with what it generates in higher conversion. Both YPN and AdSense are free to join and extremely easy to implement on any website with even the most basic HTML and web-design knowledge. However, YPN requi
