When a colleague loaned me Stephen Covey’s “The Seven Habits Of Highly Successful People” many years ago, it took me about three months to get round to reading it – I now realise that I wasted those three months! In fact, I read it three times in order to ensure that I had fully digested the wisdom.Whilst I cannot claim to have experienced an epiphany of “Damascus Highway” proportions, it did cause me to make fundamental changes to the way I conducted business. In reality, I was practising much of what Covey suggests, but I was doing so in a fairly unstructured and ill-disciplined way. However, in what I now term my “Post Covey” period, I do ensure that I audit myself regularly and I would urge you to do the same.Covey is also responsible for the book “Principle Centred Leadership”, and many of his ideas and approaches relate to the management of people. You are encouraged to consider, as you read through my summary of his ideas, how any of it might relate to your own particular situation as an individual, as well a manager.Covey’s view focuses on interdependence, on what he calls “mature interaction”. When we are truly interdependent, then we have achieved and are practising all seven habits. Firstly, they will have to go through the headline. Then they will have to go through the content. Then lastly they will have the option on whether they want to click the link on your resource box or not. If the customer can pass through these 3 filters and he go to your website, you can be sure that it will be a very targeted traffic.So now you go and write your own articles. What are the ways that you can make use of the articles to presell your affiliate product? The first thing that you can do is to submit your articles to high traffic article directories. This will ensure that you will get lots of people reading your article. Only those that like your article will click on your links. The 2nd way is to send the article to your own list. If you are promoting an affiliate product, send a article that will relates to the product.When you do the above 2 steps, you are basically just preselling the affiliate product to your customer. Your role will be just getting the customer to go to your affiliate links. Firstly, your customer will not feel like you are hard selling them and secondly, they will feel that they have a choice on whether they want to click on it or not.So leave all the selling part to the merchant. If you like cars would like to start a business that has something to do with automobiles perhaps you will consider cleaning off the cars at new car lots. There are many benefits to this if you like automobiles because you will see all the latest models and wash all the nicest cars.Perhaps you have seen mobile car wash companies at the car lots with their hoses out and high-pressure washers cleaning up all the cars? It might be something to do with some “traps” that can easily snare you if you’re not careful. They’re traps that everyone has, to some lesser or greater degree, fallen in to at some stage…And they’re traps you need to avoid (or fight your way through) to succeed!
