Exporting to Europe: Not the Challenges You Think
If you plan to do sell your product or service in Europe the problems you encounter may not be the ones you expect. It’s easy to focus on perceived difficulties, such as the so-called ‘language barrier’, while not noticing the real pitfalls – until it’s too late. I learned three lessons the hard way: appreciate the different cultures, understand the value of quality vs. speed, and know which foreign language is key to your business. If you hope to compete with local firms in Europe you must understand European business cultures. Notice the use of the word of the word ‘cultures’ - plural. When I first started doing business in Europe, three years ago, one of the first things I learned was that the European business environment is much more diverse than in the States. Despite the introduction of the single currency, Europe is not a single business entity. Different countries retain different ways of doing things. Like many Americans doing business in Europe for the first time, I learned this the hard way. After a number of awkward meetings and deals that mysteriously didn’t go through I began to understand that it was a bad idea to deal with Europeans like I dealt with people back home. The American business model prevails in northern Europe – with the UK and possibly Germany representing the nearest thing Europe has to a US-style approach. Businesses in former Easter Bloc countries that have recently joined the EU are also very US-friendly. During the Soviet years America represented freedom; American business can now reap the rewards of that iconic status. The rest of ‘old Europe’ is a little different and you should be aware of each country’s

Why Would You Need To Use A Business Card?, Part I
You might be wondering what all the talk about business cards is about. Why should you have one?A business card, in the simplest possible terms, is a portable advertisement, targeted only to the people who can make the most difference in terms of your business's success or failure. To see why business cards can make such a difference in the health of your business, think about the classic methods of advertising. Each of them has significant advantages, too--but each also carries a significant disadvantage. For example, take mass media advertising. Most local independent newspapers carry advertising for local businesses, as do magazines and the larger city papers. Print advertising has the advantage of carrying a great deal of information, and of reaching a wide audience. In even a fairly small ad--say two inches by two inches of page space--a creative graphic artist can include contact information, some details on exactly what services the business provides, and even a catchy slogan or piece of artwork to give the business an identity and to make it memorable when your prospective client picks up the phone or fires up the keyboard. And if the paper or magazine has a sufficiently high circulation across all levels of the city's population--young, old, professional, non-professional--then your advertisement can reach people whom you otherwise wouldn't be able to meet, people who might have a strong need for exactly what you're providing. However, print advertising also carries with it several major disadvantages, not least of which is price. Although advertising in small-circulation specialty papers is comparatively cheap (maybe

Passion is the essence of successful online content creation. With the advent of Blogger and other easy to use blogging platforms, even the unsavvy computer user is able to put content on the web for others to read and respond to. It’s even more gratifying to be able to make money from communicating your passion to others…and it is so easy to do.

I believe that most readers of this article are at least adept enough to start a blog with Blogger and perhaps even place a Google Contextual Ad in the code. However, there are many other steps to take that can maximize your “blogging” ability to not only reach your audience but to make money from blog visitors.

Using a real example, I will give you a formula that you can easily follow, with little baby steps, that will allow you to start making money with your web content.

“You know what I like? Baseball!”
Robert De Niro as Al Capone in “The Untouchables”

I am a fantasy sports junkie. To me, 14-6-8 aren’t just SERPS, they could also be Boris Diaw’s basketball stat line. Now that fantasy basketball season has ended (and I did win my league), I can focus full time on fantasy baseball.

During the course of this article, I am going to create and monetize a blog about one of my fantasy baseball teams (http://www.fantasybaseballmonster.com). I will use Blogger as my platform, though I will host the blog myself (and I strongly recommend that you do this as well). I will take you step by step through the creation and monetization process as well as give you my first post. I encourage you to copy my entire process when you create your blog...I think you will be happy with the results.

Audio Streaming-Can Audio Make a Difference on Your Web Site?
With hi-speed internet access becoming more ubiquitous in North America, web sites can now afford to offer audio streaming as part of their web site content. But being able to offer it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s desirable to offer. Can audio streaming make a difference on your site? First ask yourself whether your intended audience really needs audio? Obviously, if you in the record business, or selling videos, it might be an asset. If you sell auto parts online, perhaps not.If audio isn’t something that your audience requires, then you may want to assess its benefit in delivering your product or service message. It can help capture the attention of the view. Certain viewers may pay more attention to an audio message than a written one. Depending on the voice that’s used, a sales message using audio streaming may create a sense of purchasing urgency, and a sense of trust in prospective buyers. One desirable element of audio content is that it becomes one more way in which you can immediately involve the person that hits your home page. They may not be reading, but they can’t avoid listening!Like any communications media, if you do use audio streaming, make sure you do it right. Unless you have a quality radio-style voice of your own, use professional voice talent. Voice talent is readily available through sites like www.voices.com and is not expensive. A quality voice can make a difference and the will underscore key elements of your product or service while building trust and confidence in your view.

How to Finance a Medical Practice That is Growing Quickly
Regardless of what industry pundits say, opening a medical practice can be both very rewarding and very lucrative. Of course, as with any business, medical offices have their own specific financial challenges. One of the biggest challenges for medical practices of all sizes is adjusting to the long payment cycles of private insurance providers and Medicare/Medicaid. It is not uncommon for bills to insurance companies to take up to 120 days to pay. This slow payment cycle wreaks havoc in the office’s cash flow, forcing the medical office to carry the costs of doing business – paying rent, equipment leases and office staff – while waiting to get paid. This can be prohibitively expensive and prevent the office from growing and hiring additional staff. At its worst, it can threaten the very existence of the medical practice. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is a financing tool that lets you capitalize on your slow paying insurance companies and turn their slow payments into immediate payments. The solution is to factor your medical receivables. How does medical receivables factoring work?Medical receivables factoring (or medical factoring for short) is a financing tool that allows you to turn slow paying invoices into actual cash, by selling them to a medical factoring company. The medical factoring company pays you for them and waits to be paid by the insurance companies. It eliminates the slow payment cycle, reducing the payment time from 90 days to two days. This provides the medical office with the necessary funds to meet expenses, such as paying rent and staff. It also frees up capital to grow the business into

The Top 5 Mistakes Most Start-Up Businesses Will Make
I was employed by the Yellow Pages for nearly 25 years as a sales consultant. During that time, I worked with over 3000 businesses and averaged 100 new businesses each year. I got a first-hand look at what the owners planned and implemented. It was an enlightening experience. Although my focus was on marketing, I saw the thinking process of retail and service businesses from an insiders perspective. They were a diverse group of companies; restaurants, dentists, car dealers, plumbers, carpet cleaners and too many to list. But they all had one thing in common. The optimism of entrepreneurship. It’s a wonderful thing. The hope of success and striking it rich. Yet they also lacked some simple elements that I felt would also have led to their success. Today I am retired from consulting, but have begun my own business and hopefully learned from their mistakes. So let me pass them on as a lesson to those who are about to embark on a similar path.MISTAKE NUMBER ONE: No Business Plan. How can you build a house or car or anything without a drawing or a plan? Where is the foundation? How will the contractor know where to place the windows and doors? Where is the budget for products, services, or marketing? What are the annual projections for sales and expenses? Where do you want to be in one, three, or five years? And yet most businesses have no such plan and therefore are driving forward blindly. Get a clue and have a plan.MISTAKE NUMBER TWO: Lack of Research. When you decided to sell your product or service, did you research the competition and the marketplace? Did you examine all the other similar items and how they are marketed? Without a detailed knowled

So in order to maximize monetization of my blog, my ads will be placed on the left.

Once I get into the Blogger interface, I click on the “Settings” tab to begin my customization. Many default settings should go unchanged…I will only focus on those that should be altered.

(Basic Tab) Title: Your core keyword(s) should be in your title. “Fantasy Baseball” is mine…hence “Tru Fantasy Warior’s (the name of my team adapted from the Ron Artest rap record label) Fantasy Baseball Blog” is a workable title for SEO purposes.

Description: Needs to contain your secondary keywords. In my case, they would be the members of my fantasy baseball team. I list each name here.

    (Publishing Tab)

File Name, URL: The name of your file needs to be “index.shtml” instead of “index.html”. Note that if Blogger is hosting your blog, you can’t do this.

    Notify Weblogs.com: Click “Yes”

(Formatting Tab) Show: I tend to favor showing a lot of content on the home page. I would raise the number that’s in the default…how much would depend on the amount of content that will be created.

Post Template: I would tag all my posts with the Technorati tag for “fantasy baseball”. I visit Technorati, click on the “tag” tab, and determine that I need to add the following code into the “Post Template”:

    <a href="http://technorati.com/tag/fantasy+baseball" rel="tag">fantasy baseball</a>

(Archive Tab): Archive Frequency: Choose “Daily”

    Getting Content

I will signup for Google News Alerts for each player on my team. Each day, I will receive an e-mail containing news stories about that player…their actions on the field will drive the postings that I make.

Placing an RSS Feed on the Blog

Placing an RSS feed on the blog will not only provide my readers with relevant content about the targeted subject matter, but it will also aid any search engine optimization effort
