Business Plan Resources - Industry Standards in Small Business Plans
The purpose of adopting a quality standards framework is to enable and encourage small businesses to strive for excellence. In some industries, such standards are imposed by government regulations. In fact, the drive for compliance is becoming more and more the norm in an effort to guarantee a minimum level of quality of services to customers.Effective small business owners and managers engage in best practice activities anyway, and the adopting of standards underpins their business policy development. They take a proactive approach to striving for excellence in their bus

    Get to the Point, Quickly
When selling yourself, be quick, direct, and get your point across in less than half a minute. We’re always on a hyper deadline. No time for small talk. Tell me what you have and let’s go. 10-second sound bites, three word emails, short hand text messages—speed of communication is king. You can either resist this fast pace and lose out, or make it work for you and watch it pay off nicely.Small business owners: get to the point fast and then get faster. Give your unique selling proposition without fluff. If you have a janitorial supply company, skip the long description. Tr
One of the fastest, easiest ways to get started with an online business is to promote affiliate products. This way, you eliminate the time-consuming task of having to develop your own product. Promoting digital e-books through Clickbank is an easy way to go. You can simply pick one of the 12,000 plus e-books listed, run some pay-per-click ads, or write an article or two, and wait for the checks to roll in. And there’s nothing wrong with this model, if you want to make a few extra bucks on the side.

But as you become more experienced, you will quickly learn, as I did, that the customers you send to these affiliate links are now long gone, and they are no longer YOUR customers. They are now your affiliate program’s customers. So, while you may have made a few bucks in commissions, you were really working for free to build a nice list for your affiliate program. They now have those customers for life and can continue to promote new products to them.

Now, think about it. What if 1,000 people read your ad and clicked onto your affiliate website? Well, you may have made a few sales, but what happened to the 1000 people who clicked on your ad in the first place? Someone else has those names, and you gave them away for free! This is a big mistake and one that is easy rectifiable.

I’ll bet you’ve heard the phrase, “The money is in the list.”

I know I ignored this important bit of wisdom for a long time. Tracking Your Marketing Dollars
A client recently asked, "I don't have a formal marketing budget, so how much should our company spend on marketing?"There is no simple answer because all companies have different marketing goals, different target audiences and staffing varies for sales and marketing follow up.Ideally, good marketing helps to bring pre-qualified customers to your sales team, who then complete the sales process and close the sale. But the reality is that most companies spend a great deal of time, effort and money marketing, but spend little time tracking and analyzing. They know exactl

The Benefits Of Being Able To Print Postage At Home
The United States Postal Service or USPS has listened to its customers and realized the need for more convenience in postage. Giving people the option to print postage in their own home has led to a booming market for online postage companies. Besides the USPS website, there are many other authorized companies that sell online postage. Giving people the ability to print postage from their own computer has really revolutionized the world of postage. The USPS is the best known place for getting postage. Is Affiliate Marketing An Easy Way To Make Money?
Many internet experts claim that you can make easy money as an affiliate who promotes other people's products for a commission. Is this true? The short answer is yes and no. Yes; it's easy if you know how and promote first class products. No; it is difficult if you lack knowledge or expert guidance.Yes; it is easy if you are prepared to learn, work hard and apply your knowledge. No; it is not easy if you expect money to drop into your lap as you sit around without bothering to study, learn and apply what you learn. If promoting a product were that easy why would

Why a Salesperson Fails at Selling and How to Prevent It
If you stay in sales long enough, you realize that you can’t fix low sales activity. This is as blunt as I can put it. Sales activities drive opportunities which lead to sales. If salespeople don’t do the sales activities, the opportunities won’t develop and sales won’t appear. This is a predictable, yet simple equation. I believe it was Zig Ziglar who said, “If you do the things you ought to do, when you ought to do them, the day will come when you can do the things you want to do, when you want to do them.”Last month I was reminded how some sales people try to bypass the s
r a long time. I knew that the right way to promote affiliate products was to have customers go to your website first and then on to the affiliate sales page. This way YOU could capture their email address and they could become your customers. But if you’re not a techie, the thought of building a website, getting an autoresponder to capture email addresses, and following up with emails might send shivers down your spine. The thought of it all made me dizzy.

So I tried a few different things. At first, I bought a CBMall, www.clickbank-success.com and signed up as an affiliate. This is a wonderful concept. You simply run ads or write articles to promote this Clickbank Mall and when someone visits the mall, all nicely sorted by topics and buys a product from Clickbank, you get a commission. You as the mall owner, are allowed to purchase any Clickbank product at the affiliate discount, which is a wonderful benefit. I save tons of money because I buy LOTS of e-books. Another great benefit is that once a customer makes that click, the CBMall sends a free newsletter and does the follow-up for many months. The only downside is that you don’t capture the email addresses and you don’t build a list.

So then I also joined a plug-in Clickbank affiliate website, which means that you can build a basic website without techie knowledge. You simply point and click to the Clickbank products that you want to offer and they magically appear on the screen, image and all. You write a little copy and presto, you’re done. Now you have your own website. What you don’t have is an autoresponder. You can purchase one yourself and add it to the website, but this is where it gets a little tricky. You have to know how to use a Cpanel, which is very complicated if you do
