When you first get started online, you read a lot of info about how to make money online. I know I did. But I didn’t feel like what I read had a direct impact on what I was going to be able to do to make money. Either the information was a little vague—find a product, or make a product (what do you make or find when you are just getting started, right?), and then advertise it. Just drive traffic to your site.

So I did just that. I wrote a book. I sent traffic to my site. All kinds of traffic—most worthless, some good. But I didn’t make much money. I tracked the traffic, I tested it, I tested response rates—and I hung in there far longer than I think that the average person that wants to make money online does.

Then I discovered affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is where you simply promote another person’s product and they pay you a commission. Of course I studied that too, and saw that there are cons to affiliate marketing. Sometimes you don’t get paid your commissions. And you don’t have as much control over your sales page as with your own site.

The Top 7 Things Entrepreneurs Need to Know About Employees
As I work with clients to strengthen their teams and to make their businesses more profitable, I often encounter some serious misunderstandings of human nature. These misunderstandings usually lead business leaders in the wrong direction when they attempt to inspire their employees to perform at a higher level. For

    Why Is Customer Service Important
If you are someone who eats out a lot then you know how important customer service is. Of course, it varies from establishment to establishment, and from person to person. Opinions and standards vary quite a bit, but I think we all agree that customer service is very important. We all want to be treated well and t

    Why Don't We?
The other day a business client said to me, "Why don't I just do this stuff? I know how to do it. I know it needs to be done, but I don't do it."What's it?It is the big rocks in your business that we avoid. It's working in our business and not on it. It's lack of planning, lack of reviewing, lack of

    The Anywhere Office
The workplace has evolved over the years. At one time, most people worked from their homes as farmers or craftspeople. A few were merchants. Then the industrial revolution changed everything. Many people left their homes and trades to live in and around cities and work in factories of all sorts. In the factories
died that too, and saw that there are cons to affiliate marketing. Sometimes you don’t get paid your commissions. And you don’t have as much control over your sales page as with your own site.

But, I looked at the pros, too. These affiliate products already have sales pages (boy, my first sales page was a disaster), they have been tested to convert, and you don’t have to do any of the backend work like customer service and deal with PayPal or credit cards.

So I decided to test several different affiliate programs, sending them all traffic, and seeing which ones converted and sold and then paid me. And I am making money with affiliate programs. Case closed.

So how do I do it?

    1) I set up a website that offers a free ebook (which is loaded with affiliate links) and an Ecourse that is mailed everyday. On the web site I put a web form that collects the visitors name and email address and sends it to my autoresponder (step 2).

    2) I set up an autoresponder and wrote a series of letters that teaches people how to make money online–in plain English, and simply, easy-to-follow steps.
