16 Ways to Make Your Business Cards Unforgettable
Every time you hear someone say “May I have one of your business cards?" you should get excited. I know I do. That’s because I LOVE my cards. I spent thousands of dollars on printing, several hours on designing and went through 10 different layouts until I got them right. And it was all worth it.A business card is an entrepreneur’s best friend, his most valuable marketing tool and an essential element to becoming UNFORGETTABLE. Unfortunately, too many p

    Creating a Breakthrough
How do you create a breakthrough in your business or your life? It's hard to see the possibility, to see that you can create a breakthrough, especially when times feel hard or tough. What it comes down to is getting out of your own way. How do you stop your own success? Do you sabotage yourself?Jinny Ditzler, in her book, "Your Best Year Yet" outlines a process for shifting your paradigm. As a program leader of the Best Year Yet program, I have seen this shif
In Chinese business culture, drinking plays a prominent role with many Chinese companies hiring what amount to professional drinkers, giving them professional job titles. Many Chinese people in professional jobs that I met, i.e. in accountancy and management positions, often have to accept the drinking culture in order to be accepted and to progress in their company, hence it is often necessary to put the drinking culture ahead of the direct needs of family sometimes.

Chinese people are very family orientated people and they care very much about their families. It is more a case that most companies expect their employees to conform to the company culture and to do well in a company, it is important to fit in with these ideologies. Many of my students spoke of the way in which it was necessary to entertain business clients with a good evening of drinking and a visit to a singing room in order to get a deal done. This use of alcohol in business seems to be changing gradually with several Chinese business people telling me that they are now tiring of the heavy drinking culture, and choosing instead to entertain clients out on the golf course. Things You Should Know About Workplace Bullies
Who's a Bully Everyone has one or two really bad bosses in their working life: people who make your life miserable. But we're starting to recognize that some of these office tyrants are bullies, just like the ones you used to face on the schoolyard. And bullying is becoming a major problem in US business - bullies account for a great deal of employee stress and burnout, massive turnover and lost productivity, and general misery among their workers.

    Serious Business Networking
As they always say “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.”Of course just knowing people doesn’t necessarily get you the job, or the promotion, or the contract you wanted, but it certainly can help; so long as people don’t think you are using them. It’s true that networking is extremely important, so finding new contacts is the key to your continuing success; you need to learn out about networking meetings or events in your area. Before you

Organizing Dilemmas A Never Ending Story (2)
This dilemma is one of the most common management dilemmas. It is not constraint to large organizations that focus -- to name one -- on implementing a shared service center, but also small companies are dealing with this problem ... even a computer programmer faces the same dilemma...Thus, when the programmer experiences a lot of maintenance because of the many exceptions that bring the decentralized program with it, he or she wil streamline the program a

Putting The Serve Back Into Customer Service
Good service is easy to spot and hard-to-find. Mediocre service occasionally stands out but only because it's the cream-of-the-crap.Last week I had the opportunity to speak at the Lumbermen's Merchandising Corp. annual sales meeting in Dallas. The meetings were held at the Dallas Convention Center and the hotel we stayed at was the Hyatt Regency at Reunion. The first night I had dinner at the Centennial Caf? Restaurant on the second floor of the hotel. T

As someone who enjoys social drinking, I kind of like the idea of having a few drinks with clients at the companies expense and it is perhaps true that it is a great opportunity to learn about the real character of the client/s when they are drunk. The problem for many people though, seems to be the high amount of alcohol drank during these meetings and the difficulty of saying NO if you do not feel like drinking.

In Finland I found that people drank vodka so fast that it was as though their lives depended on it and that the girls drink as much as the guys. Winters in Finland are long and cold and drinking is almost considered a pastime to get through the harsh winter. As a result of this you will not be surprised to hear that alcoholism is a big problem in Finland. Finland incidentally, was the first country in the world to allow all females to vote (New Zealand would have been first but excluded the Maori women), and these days the Finnish women account for over 40% of women in the parliament. Finnish women can handle drink almost on a par with the men. In Ireland, even the girls have beer bellies, not just the guys. Take a walk around the capital city Dublin, on a Friday or Saturday night, and you will see plenty of girls drinking Guinness by
