Time Management Is About Managing Self
"You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it."-Charles BixtonTime management is not much about managing time but managing oneself. The usual compliant we hear from every one is “No time”. Time is fixed for every one; 24 hrs a day, 52 weeks an year. It is up to the individual how effectively and efficiently he or she manages and uses the time. Plan your time well, and then you will have ample time to do your activities.Characteristics of Time ♣ It is a valuable and scarce resource ♣ It cannot be accumulated like money ♣ Once lost is lost for ever ♣ It cannot be stretchedThere are 3 P’s of time management which needs to be taken care of:1. Planning – must Planning is deciding in advance what to do, when to do and how to do for any activity. For e.g. Consider that you need to submit a sales report to your superior or to your management team. First you need to plan out the outline / content of the report, decide when to do and plan how to go about of doing it.2. Prioritizing – vital The next step is prioritizing the activities. Categorize your activities in to Important and Urgent, Important but not Urge

    Public Relations for Accountants
These days of accounting fraud at some of the largest corporations in America have indeed caused issues with public trust from shareholders and investors. Many of the accounting firms are now under more scrutiny to dig deeper and find such accounting anomalies or outright fraud. It is for this reason that some citizens have a little question mark when it comes to accountants these days and therefore it makes sense for accountants to do a little extra public relations and community goodwill and remain upstanding citizens. So what can accountants do to promote themselves and their firms in a positive way in their area to attract good clientele and improve their images in the town? Well, we all know that accountancy firms are not all that exciting, but they are very much needed. It makes sense for an accounting firm to volunteer to do things in their community such as become the treasurer of a nonprofit group, which is popular in the city. Especially when the board members are those of major corporations also in the area. Being involved with that group of people is good for the company. This should be the minimal that accountancy Corp. does in order to promote themselves and achieve a high level of community goodwill through positive reinfor
As I’ve been reading the trade magazines recently, I’ve paid particular attention to the channel magazines. A big story for several months has been the change in leadership at HP, since Mark Hurd took over as CEO from Carly Fiorina. This change has been met with much interest and concern for two reasons: 1) HP is a VERY BIG supplier to channel and 2) The company that Mark Hurd formerly led, NCR, utilized the channel to a far less extent than HP. So the natural concern is Hurd may steer HP toward a greater percentage of direct business in their distribution model.

CHANNEL PROPAGANDA It was interesting, especially at first, to watch various editorials attempt to “read the Mark Hurd tea leaves.” This started IMMEDIATELY AFTER his very first press conference, which ANNOUNCED his appointment as the new HP CEO. The better part of one issue of a prominent channel magazine seemed dedicated to trying to decipher the impact on the channel by interpreting his earliest words. Hurd basically said, “I don’t know yet”. His appointment had just been announced within the last hour, so that seemed to be a pretty reasonable statement! Loss Of Purpose Is A Major Cause Of Failure
Loss of purpose is akin to a loss of faith or patience as it is unfolding. It is a feeling that no matter what you do – it will not be good enough or soon enough. There are nagging questions, which keep popping into your consciousness. They scream:What are you going to do with the rest of your life? What are you doing with your life now? Why aren’t you further ahead in some area of your life? Why haven’t you accomplished more?Purpose is the single most important motivator in a person’s life. It keeps you keeping on when all around is caving in before your eyes – when nothing seems to work – when people have abandoned you and life seems to have forgotten your existence. There is no easy way to regain your purpose. It is a function of many elements: will, desire, resolve, faith and trust. The way to discovering or re-discovering your purpose takes time, effort, passion, patience, contemplation, self-evaluation and commitment. These traits are not inborn or easily acquired, but, in the end once you own them, there is nothing that can stand in your way as you move into the rest of your life. The first step in discovering (or re-discovering) your purpose is to find what you love. Find what you are passionate about, what you

    Cheap Trade Show Displays
If you want to be cost effective with your trade show exhibitions or if you are preparing for your first trade show, you should choose cheap trade show displays for the best deal. Trade shows are effective sales devices for growing business, and most new enterprises are not financially strong enough to spend a large amount on an elaborate trade show display, so opting for a cheap display is a good idea. Don't try to produce a do-it-yourself display, instead, look for experts who can produce cost effective trade show displays that fit your budget. There are many ways to get cheap trade show displays. First, always consider a rollup or banner display, as they are light, inexpensive, and easy to transport. Banners with graphic headlines can easily attract attention. You can use them anywhere and greatly minimize the cost of your booth. Secondly, if you want to use small space, a tabletop display unit would be the perfect because it is small, light, professional looking, and less expensive than a full booth. Thirdly, if buying would be a problem for you, then you should consider getting a rental display for the tradeshow. You can modify a used display and convert it to fit your needs. You can also form a partnership with someone who is participating in the show

The Sales Apprentice- Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Part V
"Now 11 remain to fight for the chance to become the Apprentice." So began this week's episode of the hit TV show which was primarily about selling and was packed to the rafters with sales training tips for the sales superstar in waiting. This week's task for our "wannabees" was to dabble in the art market selling photography. After picking 2 potential photographers each our heroes were to see who could make the most profit from art sales in one day. SAS was on top form declaring this to be "a special kind of salesmanship" where one cannot talk people into buying but where our team had to "smell" when a potential customer was on the hook! They all had very different ways of approaching this task…The two teams, led by Christina, the pharmaceutical sales manager, and Natalie, who has an MBA, split up and set about the task of speaking to the photographers. They all had very different ways of approaching this task. Katie preferred to find out all about the photographers, their desires wants and needs. Adam on the other hand got down to figures fast! Katie was, as usual, unimpressed, declaring to the camera that this was not a car lot and that if Adam went back to one and got run over that would be ok by her!"If we pick you, do we have your c

    Kids Shopping Cart Cars
Certainly by now you have seen those new ultra-long SUV type shopping carts, where the kids sit in the plastic car in front and pretend to steer down the isles? They are excellent for Store Managers as it keeps kids from pulling items off the shelves. This causes unnecessary spillage, product loss and time to clean up the mess. Makes a lot of sense and the kids seem happy, stay out of the way and do not get run over by fast moving shoppers like you and I. Zooom! One thing you may not have thought of is that retail merchandisers are now putting kids type products on the lower shelves. And companies selling things that kids like pay to be on those lower shelves instead of only at the normal eye level of kids sitting in shopping carts, which is closer to the eye level of adults. This means they are freeing up some of that high rent space and able to put more items lower, which they can charge for also, this is helping their shelf space programs that they sell to manufacturers of retail products. Those who sell products may wish to be thinking here if you are selling to spoiled children who are now riding lower in the carts yelling; “mommy, I want, want!” In essence the children’s department at the grocery stores is now split to two levels and the grocery
Hurd basically said, “I don’t know yet”. His appointment had just been announced within the last hour, so that seemed to be a pretty reasonable statement! While certainly not universal, many a columnist and channel spokesperson interpreted this simple, honest statement to be a putdown of the channel’s role at HP, with dire consequences certain to follow if this held true. These wags even went on to warn him of how the channel will turn on HP. They pretty much threatened that he had better live up to recent HP channel executives promises to make the channel even more prominent in HP’s distribution model. It’s pretty ironic considering many HP executives will tell you that most of their business already flows through channels, sometime hampering their ability to gather good marketing data. To quote a high profile (and somewhat silly) primetime TV reporter, “I say give me a break!”

The whole thing was really jumping the gun, and frankly quite silly. As Hurd has had a bit of time to study the massive company he is taking over, these same channel players seem to be pleased with his follow-on statements, and the direction they believe he will lead HP with respect to the channel. I got quite a chuckle over a period of weeks reading the va
