Rainbows are caused by the refraction of the sun hitting the atmosphere which at the time consists of rain, mist, or raindrops. God promised man that the earth would never again be destroyed by fire and that the rainbow was a reminder of that situation. We all wish for the pot of gold waiting for us at the end of the rainbow. It seems that we can never get close enough to the end of the rainbow to obtain our prize. We visualize our every dream and wish to be found at the end of the rainbow. It represents our ultimate desires. Things that are usually far beyond our reach are at the end of the rainbow. What happens if we stumble over the rainbows end? Will we be satisfied? Will the quest for all of our hopes and dreams be over? Will we no longer dream of better things to come? The man who brought the ore industry to the city of Lorain, Ohio built it as his private home at the turn of the century. In 1924, a tornado erupted over nearby Lake Erie. Killing winds ripped off the home’s tower (never to be repaired or replaced), and one photo from that day shows the skeleton of another house hovering over the roof of the structure that would someday become our funeral home.
