By accepting Christ, we enter in through the One and only door that leads to salvation. No matter what else you may believe~it just isn't the truth. Unfortuneatley many have been misled by false doctrines. People will admit to knowing and loving God but don't keep His commandments. If this is the case, God says you are a liar. Why? Because the truth is not in you.

"The one who says, I have come to know Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. This past week I began a Bible study at the women's prayer and study group at church. Since the Resurrection Sunday is fast approaching, I felt it was necessary to dig in deeper to the passion of Christ. I felt we really needed to investigate Scripture more whole heartedly to explain the Passover week through the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. When taken into account one to the other, things that happened are further detailed in one book more than another. The accounts were reported by all four writers to line up according to the Word of God. It's just like a pot of soup being made with different seasonings, but the final outcome still tastes the same. Nothing contradicts the other, in fact they compliment eachother into a richer flavor. When taken altogether, it creates a dish that tastes like more. When you take the first bite you will be asking for another one. God wants us to eat up in order to live!

I have a set of Resurrection Eggs that I use. In each egg is a symobl of something that led up to Christ's crucifixion and resurrection. Visuals seem to make a lasting impression. They are a teaching tool meant to bring the true message of "Easter" to children. But I think we can all learn more no matter how old we are. It's a beginners course, Easter 101 so to speak. But I took it deeper. The events of the week before Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection come to life when understood by lining Scripture up to eachother. The women and I got through the first six eggs and we all admitted to understanding this whole event on a more intimate level. I want to share one of these events right now.

While standing in front of Pilate for the first Roman trial, he asked a question that was so ironic it needs to be addressed. I believe there are people today who might ask the same question and those of us who are Christians should be prepared to give an answer. First, we have to realize that Pilate was a Roman ruler. He did not serve the One, True living God. The Romans were secular Gentiles. They were ruling over Jerusalem during the reign of Tiberius Caesar. The Jews knew that Pilate had already created upheaval in Palestine by being foolish. It was their scheme to see if he could be threatened into doing more. They wanted to intimidate him into doing another foolish act that would end his power in Palestine if he did not have Jesus crucified. Even though Pilate could find no fault in Jesus, he sought the approval of man over God and the rest is history.

Christ was led into Pilate's court for His first trial after Caiaphas. You can read this account in John 18. Pilate did not order Jesus' crucifixion as the chief priest and Pharisees had anticipated. The Jews wanted Jesus killed during Passover, but it was against their religion. So, they past this dasterdly deed onto the Romans. The Jews could not have killed Jesus anyway, it would not have fulfilled prophecy. If they had, He would have been thrown down by stoning, but it was His Father's plan that He would be lifted up. This was to be done on the Cross. God is always in control, no matter what anyone may think.

Pilate looked at Jesus and asked Him what had He done to deserve death? The Pharisees accused Christ of blashemy. His claim to be God was an offense worthy of death. Pilate questioned Jesus' authority as being a King of the Jews. If He actually were a real king, then why did His own people want Him dead? Wouldn't they have tried to prevent this? But Jesus explained this further.

"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm." John 18:36

Jesus made it clear that His kingdom was not of this evil world system which is in rebellion of God. His kingdom was no threat to the national identity of Israel or the political and military power of Rome. His kingdom is in the spiritual dimensions of the heavenlies.

"Therefore Pilate said to Him, So You are a king? Jesus answered, You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice. Pilate said to Him, What is truth?" John 18:37-38

This the most ironic statements ever recorded. Jesus is the Truth and Pilate didn't recognize it even though it stared him right in the face. Like Pilate, people today react with cynism because they believe there is no answer to this question. God tells us that only the people whom He gives to His Son will hear His Voice. It's not by sex, race, color, creed, religion, age, or geograpahical location. It's not your position or condition in life, He is no respector of persons. It's the condition of your heart that determines your position with Him. Do Muslims go to heaven, or Buddists? What about atheists and agnostics? Of course they do...IF they accept Christ as their Savior and Lord of their lives. Why even Pilate could've been accepted as Christ's redeemed had he recognized Him. But he chose to trust in the schemes of the people in order to gain their respect. This will never work.

Pilate did not kill Jesus, nothing could've thwarted God's divine plan, but he did choose to kill himself by not recognizing the truth. In fact he mocked Christ and God's word says He will not be mocked.

"Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, Behold, your King!" John 19:14

Pilate's mockery was giving them a king so befitting as to stand before them beaten and bruised. But he just didn't get it. Believing that he was in control, he then handed Jesus over to be crucified. Pilate's sin was to choose the approval of the Jews and Caesar in order keep his position of power. This presents a powerful lesson. When we ignore the truth of God's Word in our own lives we can never hope for heaven as our destiny. I pray you will be led in the truth and the Spirit of the Lord for your own salvation.
