Chocolate Chip Cookies and What They Are Telling Us
Ok, so admittedly, I am sitting here taking a little breather and eating my 4th, or is it 10th (?) chocolate chip cookie of the day. It’s not quite as enjoyable as the first, but I know I will eat it anyway. Oh, you ask, “Why is it not as good as the first?” Well, it is because this one can’t be rationalized away – this one is just plain over-the-top, filled with guilt, packed with pain and too much of a good thing.Well, now that we are all clear on my addiction

Why Change Management Training is Essential for Your Company
Let’s face it: Your company or organization is likely to go through a major transformation at some point. Whether it is in a division, within a function, or across the entire organization, you as a leader will need the skills to facilitate the change and help your business continue to thrive efficiently.Sometimes the reason for change is external; perhaps the change is pushing you. Other times, the reasons for change are internally generated; you are driving and mo
You don’t have to be a design guru or professional industrial designer to come up with creative solutions to improve the things around us. After all, most of the best things were designed by amateurs, out of sheer need.

There are lots of things out there that we use every day and, surprisingly, most of them can be improved to work better, be more useful or just look better and could make you money. Let’s take an example: the pouring spout and lip. Every tea pot, jug, carafe, virtually anything that holds liquid has a pouring spout or pouring lip. But what annoys people is that it drips. There you are, thousands of years of continuous refinement and we still can’t get it right!

So, if someone takes the time, examines the problem and comes up with a really dripless spout, people will beat a path to their door? Well not really. There’s all that branding, marketing and selling stuff to get through, but that’s another story. There’s room for improvement in almost any common product and it’s this t

Digital Video Recorders for Security and Information
Digital video recorders (DVRs) are more than toys in our crime infested world. They are a necessary tool for security. In conjunction with CCTV cameras you can record everything that happens in your business 24 hours a day. The days of wondering what is going on in your other facility are gone.Using the internet, your business is under your control, 24/7/365. Using your DVR, now you simply open internet explorer, type in your IP address, input the proper username

Construction Company Profits - Save Tens-of-Thousands of Dollars INSTANTLY
Two of our recent clients, one construction company with over $100 million in revenue and exceptional personnel, training, and controls in force, and another with under $2 million in revenue without any controls, had the same problem that so many of our clients face…lost profits from lack of controls of material deliveries in the field. Our larger client builds homes valued over $5 million and sells them at cost plus a profit percentage. The smaller client builds re

Job Interviews Are Predictable - So be Prepared!
For the most part, 80% of what goes on in an interview is routine and predictable. There are hundreds of books out there on what to ask and what you'll be asked. In addition to the standard questions, you need to decide what questions you are most afraid the interviewer will ask you so you can prepare and practice answers to those questions now.A common interview agenda that looks something like this:1. The Real World: Life after Law School
First of all, if you step into that marble foyer for the first time and realize that you would rather be anywhere but there, you should be. The practice of law is for people who truly want to be lawyers. Those who don't have their hearts in it will have a very difficult road ahead of them. However, if the smell of all those legal pads really gets you going, don't lose track of that passion. It will get you through what just might be the toughest 12 months of your life.h to their door? Well not really. There’s all that branding, marketing and selling stuff to get through, but that’s another story. There’s room for improvement in almost any common product and it’s this tinkering around the edge of design that makes our life better. By addressing those pebble-in-the-shoe kinds of irritations, we can probably get rid of half the angst in the world today.

What’s the point? Well, if you don’t just want a better world to live in, you can probably make money out of simple improvements to every day things. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t for everyone. Just because you’ve banged a nail into a piece of wood doesn’t mean that you’ve got a better coat hanger.

It takes thought and discipline to come up with a viable alternative. Don’t forget these things have been around for a long time, so lots of people have probably had a go at redesign. There are about four major issues to consider before you start:

What really irritates me about this thing? Personal involvem
