Any reputable web marketing guru will tell you this is one of the best ways to build traffic. The idea being that the more good content you post on the web, with a resource box linking back to your site, the more exposure you’ll get from other websites and people looking for quality content. The major search engines like Google also love quality content. This has 3 main benefits…more traffic, more links and higher ranking in the search engines. I have experienced all 3 benefits after posting just one article. But there are rules. You can’t just publish anything. It needs to be quality content and structure. There are rules to follow here to so be sure to check the terms of use policy or FAQ before posting on a board. It’s a good idea to monitor other posts first to get a feel for the site. One internet marketing site I’ve visited that seems to have a fair amount of posts across multiple marketing subjects is www.ablake.net/forum/.
Links to other Websites:
Here again, any reputable web marketing guru will tell you this is another one of the best ways to build traffic. The idea is to trade links with other websites, with similar content as yours. By similar I mean complimentary, not competitive. One downside is it can be very time consuming as it’s a manual process. You need to search, visit, confirm and contact the sites you want to swap links with. One good site I found to help with this is www.linkpartners.com.
Note: There are software and service offerings out there to automate the link process. However, at this point, I have not thoroughly researched any so can’t comment from experience. That will be one of my next steps in the project and will report on successes and failures in a future article.
In summary, I have had success with all three of these traffic building scenario's and you should to if you follow the rules and do them properly. Remember…Targeted Traffic is the name of the game.
